 Stephen + DeeDee with Evy Scotvold - Summer 2001 Stephen and Deirdre Burke of "Shall We Dance?" were recently commissioned by World and Olympic Coaches Evy and Mary Scotvold, trainers for Nancy Kerrigan and Paul Wylie, to integrate ballroom dancing into the ice training syllabus at the Cape Cod Training and Performance Center, located at the Tony Kent Ice Arena in Dennis. Students from around the world, enrolled in the intensive nine-week summer training session run by the Scotvold's, will be coached not only in ice skills, but will be schooled in artistic presentation, line and form, musical interpretation, movements in the field and choreography. These skills will be developed both on ice and off, with ballroom dancing emphasized to integrate the techniques that create the characteristics of various ballroom dances such as Cha-Cha, Tango, Waltz and Rumba, etc. There will not be an emphasis on teaching steps, but rather the skills needed to exhibit the flavor of the dance. Needless to say, the Burke's were quite honored to be included as part of the faculty in this prestigious program.
